(Ssamjang) Korean BBQ sauce, for fried chicken.
| 1 cup | soy sauce | 
| ¾ cup | dark brown sugar | 
| 2 tbsp | minced garlic | 
| 1 tbsp | rice wine vinegar | 
| 1 tbsp | chile-garlic sauce (such as Sriracha®, optional) | 
| 1½ tsp | ground black pepper | 
| 1 tsp | grated fresh ginger | 
| 1 tsp | Asian (toasted) sesame oil | 
| 1 tbsp | cornstarch | 
| 1 tbsp | water | 
1. Stir all ingredients except cornstarch and water over heat just until boiling.
2. Whisk cornstarch and water together, then pour into hot mixture.
3. Reduce heat and whisk until thick.
