(Ssamjang) Korean BBQ sauce, for fried chicken.
1 cup | soy sauce |
¾ cup | dark brown sugar |
2 tbsp | minced garlic |
1 tbsp | rice wine vinegar |
1 tbsp | chile-garlic sauce (such as Sriracha®, optional) |
1½ tsp | ground black pepper |
1 tsp | grated fresh ginger |
1 tsp | Asian (toasted) sesame oil |
1 tbsp | cornstarch |
1 tbsp | water |
1. Stir all ingredients except cornstarch and water over heat just until boiling.
2. Whisk cornstarch and water together, then pour into hot mixture.
3. Reduce heat and whisk until thick.
