I love hot-out-of-the-oven dinner rolls.
At least a half-sheet or more than a muffin tin depending on the form you give them.
1¼ cups | warm milk | |
10 tbsp | butter | |
1 | egg | |
4½ cups | flour (bread and/or all-purpose) | |
2 tbsp | honey or sugar | |
1 tbsp | yeast | |
1½ tsp | salt |
1. Warm milk in microwave about 1 minute on high; melt stick of butter (the other 2 tbsp are for later) in microwave about 1 minute. Beat egg, sugar, salt, yeast adding milk and then butter. Place in mixing bowl and use hook to mix with 4 cups of flour. Add additional flour until dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Mix or knead 5 more minutes.
2. Turn out into a buttered bowl and cover with plastic wrap until dough doubles, about 1 hour.
3. Make (about 24) rolls using 1 and ½ half sheets. Brush with melted butter. Cover with plastic and set aside to double.
4. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Bake until golden, 20-25 minutes.
