Chocolate or Butterscotch Chip Coconut Bars

A real piece of American gourmandise.

1 stick butter (¼ lb)
1½ cups crushed graham crackers (about 18 full crackers)
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
6 oz chocolat and/or butterscotch chips
1 cup shredded coconut

1. Melt butter and add to crumbs in 9 × 13 baking dish. Mix thoroughly and press firmly into bottom of pan.

2. Pour ½ of milk on top of crumbs. Then layer first nuts, then chips and coconut. Pour remaining milk over the coconut.

3. Bake at 350° for about 25 minutes or until begins to turn golden brown. Cool and cut into squares before mixture grows too cold to cut.
